About Amber
Amber Whitted is an author and performing artist from Chicago’s Southern Suburbs. Her passion for the performing arts developed at an early age under the dance tutelage of The Ballet Centre (William and Rosalie Green) and vocal tutelage of Martrice Edge and Joan Reed (First Baptist Church of University Park). Ms. Whitted continued to hone her craft under the direction of several known directors such as Chuck Smith, McKinley Johnson, Runako Jahi, and the late Mike Malone. Ms. Whitted has performed in several venues across the Midwest such as the Black Ensemble Theater, Illinois Theatre Centre, ETA Creative Arts Foundation, Congo Square Theater Company, and the Goodman Theater.
Ms. Whitted began working as a full-figured model in 2006 with Essential Essence Modeling Troupe. After taking a break to focus on other artistic pursuits, she returned to modeling in 2009 with Project Voluptua (Mike Stagg, Director). Connections with Project Voluptua eventually led her to ThYck Troupe Chicago (Tressa Thomas, CEO/Director), where she has graced the runway for boutiques and companies such as Eileen Fisher, Boutique Larrieux, Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, and Akira.
Though blessed with several artistic talents, Ms. Whitted admits that her greatest passion is literature. She has been writing since an early age and has written over 500 poems and short stories. Her literary offerings include 4 books of poetry and a poetic EP. Ms. Whitted uses a blend of soulful vocals and witty words to deliver a powerful message that reaches the hearts of those in her presence.
Ms. Whitted is very active with her church - Victory Apostolic Church (Matteson, IL). Within her worship community, she serves in the Vessels of Victory Sanctuary Choir, the Women's Choir, and with the Victory Thunderettes Cheer Team as a Junior Varsity Competition Squad Coach. She also serves in leadership as the director of Instruments of Praise Liturgical Dance Ministry.
Most importantly, Ms. Whitted is a woman of God. In her words: “No matter what happens in my life, I want it known that God is, has been, and will always be first. I am thankful that He has brought me this far and I look forward to where I am headed!”
